Martin Macik, two-time Dakar Rally champion, has completed his first taste of circuit racing. At the Czech Truck Prix 2025 at Autodrom Most, he spent the full race weekend behind the wheel of a racing truck from the Hahn Racing team. Over the course of four races, he kept pace with experienced competitors, gained valuable experience, and above all enjoyed the entire weekend together with the fans.
Debut on Dry and Wet
After the very first qualifying session — where he advanced into the second part — Macik maintained a steady performance, spending most of the weekend in 13th place. There was no shortage of drama. In the third race, after a light contact from a rival, his rear wheels ended up in the gravel, but he managed to pull back out and finished the race without issues after the restart. In Sunday’s final race, he even notched his first overtake — a symbolic moment for a driver who has built his career in the dunes, not on asphalt.
The biggest challenge for Macík proved to be the qualifying format — completely different from what he’s used to in rally. Even so, it was clear that with every lap, he grew more comfortable in this new role.
“For me, it was a wonderful experience. I learned a lot of new things and maybe I’ll return to the circuit one day, perhaps in cars. Most importantly, I could experience all of it with the fans. Their support was incredible! The results were as expected — you have to look at it realistically. I’ve only just done about 50 proper laps, and that’s definitely not enough to think about higher positions, so I’m satisfied,” commented Martin Macik at the end of the weekend.
Fans Got to See Frank and the Crew
Martin Macik spent virtually the entire weekend with the fans, not only at autograph sessions, but also in the paddock and at the ONETEAM.store stand, where themed merchandise was available. The fan village also featured Frank, the training and exhibition Dakar truck with which the MM Technology factory team recently won the Baja Aragon.
Two MM Technology mechanics assisted throughout the weekend with servicing the race truck, nicknamed Giulia, fitting perfectly into the brand’s philosophy that every machine has its own name. Those who came to the circuit on Sunday could also meet navigator Frantisek Tomasek and mechanic David Svanda, who came to support Martin Macik.
From Circuit Back to the Desert
The Most circuit was a unique experience, but Martin Macik’s heart and soul remain in off-road racing. In October, the MM Technology factory crew will line up at the start of the Rallye du Maroc, before diving into preparations for Dakar 2026.
“My thanks to Autodrom Most for giving me the chance to be part of the Czech Truck Prix, to Hahn Racing not only for lending me the truck but also for their incredibly warm welcome and support. And of course, to our partners Prometeon, FESTA, and Silmet, who joined me and MM Technology in this challenge, and to all the fans who stood by me. Now, though, I’m looking forward to getting back to the desert,” says Martin Macik with a smile.
